Port Harcourt city isn't left out as it records a good number of attendance to Gospel concerts where budding, top Port Harcourt gospel artistes grace the stage. But then, do these artistes make our list of top 12 Gospel music artistes in Port Harcourt?

To this end, some of these artistes have released mega hit singles, collaborated with several international artistes around the world. In like fashion, they have also been praised for their hard work and their contribution to the Nigerian music industry.

Prinx Emmanuel:

Prinx Emmanuel is arguable one of the most sought after and trending Port Harcourt based Gospel artiste. In recent times, he has gotten a lot of accolades for his smash hits; Alert, Brother Nwachukwu, Who goes that man, Sapa, God no go shame us and recently, Amarachi. Interestingly, he is also the producer of most of his songs under the brand name 'Corekt sound'. Further more, he has maintained a very consistent personal brand around his signature music style that sets him apart from other gospel musicians in Port Harcourt. 

As a result, in November 2021, his Reverb concert was sold out! It recorded a mass attendance of fans who came to show support at House on the Rock, Port Harcourt. Also in attendance were different celebrity guests from the music industry and other industries. Those present for instance were, Banky W, Oxlade, Tim Godfrey, Mark Angel and lots more. In fact, if there's one artiste to watch out for in the coming years, Prinx is definitely worth the watch.

Preye Odede

Preye Odede AKA the Ebeziner crooner is one Gospel Artiste in Port Harcourt who has maintained a consistent music brand. He is a graduate of Microbiology from Abia State University in Uturu, and currently based in Port Harcourt. He is the CEO of Script Music.

Preye is an International multi-award winning gospel singer, songwriter, minister and music director. He has a mandate to take Gospel Music around the world and restore hope to those who lost it.

The Port Harcourt based gospel musician announced his presence in the industry 2011 with his hit single “BIKO“ and later released his maiden album ‘’MY SCRIPT’’ in 2012 which had award winning song Ebezina.

Preye disclosed that the inspiration behind Ebezina is a true life experience he encountered during his National Service in Nigeria.

“Life became very difficult to the extend that he did not even have money to renew his rent and the only option was to sleep in a church until God poured out his favour on him” he said.

Mercy Chinwo 

Mercy Chinwo is one of the most famous Gospel music export from Port Harcourt. The one time winner of the Nigerian Idol, Season 2 in 2012 is an inspiration to so many. Despite losing her Dad at a young age, her life is a testimony of God's faithfulness. Little wonder she released her first single, "Testimony", in 2015, and "Igwe" which became a hit sang in almost every church and gospel concert a year later.

In 2017, she got signed to the famous Gospel Music Label; EeZee Conceptz. As a result, she has gifted the gospel community more hits like Excess Love, Omekanaya, Chinedum, Obinasom, and lots more.

In 2018, Mercy Chinwo was awarded the Best Gospel Artiste at the CLIMAX Awards 2018.

In 2019, at the maiden edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST 2019), Mercy Chinwo was named winner in the categories; Africa Gospel New Artiste of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artiste of the Year and Africa Gospel Song of the Year (Excess Love).

In 2020, Mercy Chinwo emerged the Gospel Artiste of the year at the AFRIMMA Awards. Although she may not be based in Port Harcourt anymore, nevertheless, she is still worth the mention as one of the best gospel music exports from Port Harcourt. She deserves to be on our list of top 12 Gospel music artistes in Port Harcourt.

Minister GUC

Gift Ugochi Christopher, popularly known as Minister GUC is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter and motivational speaker. He was born on the 8th of October, 1995 and hails from Emohua LGA of Port Harcourt. His life is a testimony of God's goodness. Growing up an orphan, GUC found his passion for God at a very early stage in life. In retrospect, he he started as a contemporary of his friends in the music industry such as Pamela Scott, Prinx Emmanuel, Martins Dikky, Sammy Hart, etc all based in Port Harcourt.

GUC was a dedicated member of Rhema House while in Port Harcourt. He was groomed by Pastor Moses Omodibo, the presiding pastor of the church where he grew in spirit and skill. GUC was found in most gospel concerts in Port Harcourt such as Raise the Praise (RDP), Night with the King amongst others and a few he organized by himself. 

The minstrel is currently signed to gospel record label, EeZee Conceptz which was founded by Ezekiel Thankgod Onyedikachukwu.

The label is home to Mercy Chinwo, Judikay, Favour Israel Adedamola, Chris Morgan and Toby Godwin. He was nominated for an award in the upcoming Maranatha Awards USA Awards in the year 2020.

In like manner, his songs are popularly acclaimed anthems in most Nigerian churches. Making the list are Desperate, Yours, Emimimo, Alabo, All that matters, The promise. In 2021, he got married to the love of his life, Nene Ntuk, now Mrs Nene Ugochi Christopher. Minister GUC is a typical example of a man helped by God.

Kaydee Numbere 

Kaydee Numbere has been able to carve a niche for himself as the Highlife Priest in the Nigerian Gospel industry. To this end, he has consistently maintained this brand through the years in his music career. As a result, he is known for his smash hit Oghene Doh (2015) amongst others. He is the son of late Apostle G. D Numbere of Greater Evangelism World Crusade, a thriving church that led revival in the Nigerian christendom during his time. 

Kaydee picked up the passion for high life music from his late father who was also a highlife music crooner in his time. In this light, he is responsible for some of the songs we sing in the Nigerian churches till this present day. Also, his brothers, Wari and James Numbere also picked up this passion for music but however, both specialize in different genres. Over the years, Kaydee has graced the stage with top locally and internationally acclaimed gospel music artistes in Nigeria.

In 2021, he released his debut album "The Heirloom" which features some of his smash hits such as "Water Run away my eyes, Emanaam Enaan, Afayo, I am the Lord" amongst others. Kaydee Numbere has proven to be a trail blazer in the gospel music industry in Port Harcourt.

Laureche 

Laureche, whose real name is Uche Laura Etiaba, is the third of eight wonderful, spirit filled children, born to Mr & Mrs SPC Egbuna. She got born again at the tender age of 14 (while in secondary school) and since then has been on fire for Jesus.

She marked yet another great achievement on December 1, 2014 as she let us into her world of music and creative arts. More specifically, it was the launch of her maiden album, a Praise-Worship master piece, carefully put together to lift the saddest heart or provide the merriest soul with the right atmosphere of Praise and Worship to a God who does great things.

Her musical career has taken her to various programs held by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. She currently serves in Christ Embassy where she serves a leader in Love world music ministry.

Chinelo Dillimono

Chinelo Dillimono is a worshipper with a commission to take Christ’s healing to the nations through an atmosphere of worship. This commission has taken her around Nigeria & other nations of the world ministering in concerts, churches, conventions, crusades and outreaches.

She started her ministry almost 30 years ago in the coal city of Enugu. This afforded her the opportunity and honor of ministering alongside some of the best worship leaders within Nigeria and overseas.

She runs a worship ministry, Pureheart Music Ministries which hosts a Biannual Worship Concert called 'At His Feet' with Chinelo. This draws thousands of people around the City of Port Harcourt and other cities in Nigeria. She is the founder of 'The Holiday Bible School'. She is also the Co-Pastor of The Place of Grace, a thriving church in Port Harcourt, Nigeria which she pastors with her husband Rev. Frama Dillimono.

Chinelo was the pioneering Chairman of Fellowship of Gospel Music Ministers of Nigeria (FOGMMON) Rivers State Chapter. She is the author of several books including the Best Selling THE MINSTREL, WORSHIP AT HIS FEET & WISDOM FOR EVERYWOMAN series. Also, she has several musical albums to her credit.  

Wisdom K

Wisdom K is a gospel musician whose worship life has imparted lives both in Nigeria and beyond.

He was born on November 1, 1975 and had his secondary education at Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori, Rivers state. Afterward, he proceeded to Rivers State University of Science & Technology, Port Harcourt, where he studied Mechanical engineering.

Pastor Wisdom korgbara, is the current Chairman of Fellowship of Gospel Music Ministers of Nigeria (FOGMMON) Rivers State Chapter. 

He is a fiery worshiper, God chaser and minister of grace.

P- Shantel

P-Shantel is a Contemporary/Afro-rock gospel artiste who hails from Omoku, Rivers State. Her newest single titled 'You Reign In Majesty' featuring Preye Odede is one melodious tune to listen to. Princess Duke Tew aka P-Shantel holds a degree in marketing from Rivers State University of Science and Technology. 

This dynamic praise and worship leader is a member of the Recovery House Church Port Harcourt. Her love for ministry has seen her consistently leading people into Gods presence in worship and praise.

Afy Douglas 

The PH gospel music scene is not complete without mentioning the dynamic Afy Douglas, one of Port Harcourt's most revered gospel artiste. Dubbed the King of RnB, he is a worship singer who has been consistent on the gospel scene for over 16 years making him a household name.

The passionate worshipper has worked with and performed alongside several other established gospel artists in Nigeria. Among their likes are; Sammie Okposo, Tim Godfrey, Asu Ekiye, Freke Umoh, Samsong, Frank Edward, Ebiere and many more.

He has to his credit 4 Amazing albums with the last of which being the I-Adore album project.

Afy is one remarkable artiste you should know. Despite the awards to his credit, this music maker, vocal coach and music director still remains as humble as ever. 

Sensational Dele

Sensational Dele is an energetic and phenomenal music artist best known for his unique style of music. He is known for his unusual style of blending just any kind of music, be it Highlife, Soul, Reggae, Worship, Gyration praise e.t.c. into something beautiful.

He is a versatile instrumentalist and artist with over 20 years of experience. Dele is known for his contagious energy in delivering gyration praise synergy whenever he mounts the podium to minister in songs. In his music career, he has performed on the same stage with the likes of Sammy Okposo, Chioma Jesus, Frank Edwards, Tim Godfrey, Freke Umoh, Preye Odede, Empraize, Kaydee Numbere, Atonye Douglas, Jessica Reedy and many other great artistes.

Also, Dele has two amazing albums and videos titled, ‘You are you, Devil na mumu, Lonely man and Oh my mama’. To this end, a new era has come for the phenomenal Port Harcourt based Gospel artist whose music has been blessing lives. The track titled “I will be your friend” was produced by Sammy Guitars, the visual representation for the track was shot in Ghana by one of the best video directors namely; Sire Chopperson. Ebiere Ekiye 

Ebiere Ohochukwu popularly known as Ebiere, is one of Nigeria’s leading gospel music icons. She has a unique captivating voice worth admiring. The Port Harcourt born artiste officially began her singing career in 2004 and has released three albums since then. She is known for consistently releasing timely hit songs; “ Yekileme” & “Push my Praise” (2005), “Tamara Mbana” &” Omi-Olota” (2008). The award winning vocalist is a passionate music minister, music director, song writer, performing artiste.


She has shared the stage with renowned Nigerian Gospel artistes like Mike Aremu, Sinach, Asu ekiye, etc over the years. She has worked with Nigeria’s leading music producers like Cobhams, Wole Oni, OJB Jezreel, King Buskie, etc.
You can identify her sound as a fusion of Afro and Western Gospel Rhythm and beats. This is due to her early influences of western and African music in general.

She once functioned as the Music Director of Christ Embassy, Trans Amadi in Port Harcourt city Nigeria. Presently, she reaches out through her ministry “House of Ephraim”; a music ministry that's been blessing lives.

Her purpose is to go into the world and preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, winning souls for Christ through the music and abilities that God has equipped her with. Amongst her recent songs are Daddy, I go survive, 100% love.
