POV: What does God want from me?

What does God want from me?

Introduction

When I was in my early twenties, I started to have an existential crisis. The world felt like it was falling apart around me and I didn't know why. So I turned to God for comfort and guidance. But what does He want from me? What can He give me that will make everything better? These are some questions I've asked myself over the years despite being born into a Christian family. If you're asking yourself similar questions, consider these answers:

What does God want from me?

Our God wants all that we are:

God wants your whole self. He demands it and he deserves it.

He wants your whole heart, soul, mind and body, not just part of it.

God also desires for us to have a complete commitment to Him in every area of life--spiritual, physical and mental aspects as well as relationships with others (family members/friends).

He wants our whole souls:

God does not want your religion. He wants your whole life. He is not interested in just a portion of your time or even just a portion of your heart, but He wants all of it. God wants every part of you: body, soul and spirit (Matt 6:25-34).

To this end, this is why He commanded us to love Him with all our hearts, souls and minds (Matt 22:37).

God wants us to put Him first:

God wants us to put Him first in our lives, our thoughts, our actions and even in our prayers. He wants us to put Him first in everything we do. This is His desire for us because He is the ultimate source of all good things and He wants us to know and experience His love for us so that we can be changed by it. In fact, when we put God first in all areas of life, then joy will fill every corner of your life because you are pursuing His best for your life!

He wants all that we have:

Here's what God wants from you:

  • All that you have.

This means your time, your money and talents, your mind and heart, even your body. God wants us to give our everything to Him; He doesn't want any part of us withheld or hidden. This includes our love and trust as well as anything else we may think we're holding back for ourselves or for others (1 Samuel 16:7).

He wants our trust in all things.

In Luke 11, Jesus says: “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

As we look at this verse and think about what God wants from us, this becomes an important question. What is it that God wants? What does He expect from us? We can see that a big part of it is trust in Him. As we look at our lives through the lens of Scripture and trust in His Word, it becomes clear that we need to have faith that whatever God has promised will come true (Romans 8:28). And when we do believe what He says—when we put our faith in Him—we will see amazing things happen!

God wants us to consecrate ourselves to Him, a genuine and heartfelt desire to do what is right, with no reservations or ulterior motives:

We should be filled with the Spirit of God and teach others about Jesus Christ. The Lord’s ways are His commandments, which He has given us so that we can know the truth.

If you have this kind of sincere heart, you will be happy because you know that it is from God that your life comes and goes in this world.

Conclusion

The bottom line is that God wants us to follow his example and be a light to others. This means being ready to forgive those who have wronged us and showing love for our fellow man no matter how difficult it might be. It’s not easy being a Christian, but it is rewarding when you see the lives of others change because they want to emulate your actions!
